San Francisco Fudge

I remember making this recipe when I was about 12 for Thanksgiving. it was probably the first recipe I had made on my own and probably the first time we had fudge too. So here is round two if simple delicious recipes with

San Francisco Fudge

2 1/4 cups chocolate chips (semi sweet)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
dash of salt

Microwave chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, marshmallows for 4 minutes, remove and stir till creamy. Add vanilla, nuts and salt. Stir till all mixed. Have 9 x 13 or dinner plate ready and buttered. Poor out onto plate or pan and refrigerate until hard. Store at room temperature.

On another note my birthday is in about 3 weeks and seeing that it is so close to Christmas I've come to the realization that it's a pain to really do anything so I've decided to cancel it this year.
Instead of any festivities I will be getting myself a birthday tattoo! I've been thinking this past week of what I would want (I have an ongoing list of what I'll one done get day) and finally though of this:

It would just be the world part (not the stand to look like a globe but more like a sketch drawing of the earth) done in black outline with perhaps a line from a certain Muse song wrapping around my arm just above my elbow.

I'm still not sure on anything except the part where I will for sure be getting something done for my birthday. I think this might be the idea I pick but what do you think??

I do always have my back-up plan of just getting some brass knuckles and "thug life" on my shoulder...but that seems so overdone ; )

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Chocolate Cake

I love to bake. Like sometimes it become a massive problem because all I want to do is bake and then we end up with four different kinds of cookies and my parents mad at me for giving them heart disease or something like that . One week when I was on vacation I'm pretty sure between the toffee cheesecake, apple pie, chocolate flan and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies everyone gained at least 5 pounds.

I just really like to bake.

Since I love to bake so much I LOVE the holidays because its the one time a year I can bake all I want and no one can yell at me as long as I through in some santa cookies. What makes it even more special for me is that this will be the first year I get to be 100% in charge of Thanksgiving dinner!! My mom has to work and since I've helped her with it from about the age of 8 or 9 she felt she could trust me (that is until she comes home to 2 turkeys, 10 side dishes, and like 14 desserts).

In the spirit of mass cooking, baking, and eating that is gonna be happening this week I though I would share with you all some of my easiest yet most delicious recipes that I always seen to fall back on.

Today will be my highly requested chocolate cake! With only 7 ingredients it's one of my simplest recipes yet for every birthday party and family get together I get at least three request for it.

Chocolate Cake
1 Box Devils Food cake
1 Package Chocolate Pudding Mix
1 cup sour cream
4 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup warm water
1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 350 and mix all ingredients except chocolate chips with a hand held mixer for abut 4 minutes or until everything is well mixed. fold in chocolate chips and pour into desired baking pan (that is either sprayed with Pam or buttered and floured or has some crisco spread around) Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick come outs clean (the chocolate chips will be melted so watch for those)

Watch out this one is rich and delicious... has magical powers too... kept my ex-boyfriend very happy during our relationship (before I kicked his sorry cheating butt to the curb) has got me like two marriage proposals (from married men?? hahha) and the title of chocolate cake queen in our household!

Favorite Friday

Another round of

Favorite Friday!

Favorite Song

Rehab by Amy Winehouse

I have been totally shower singing, car boppin, and hairbrush as mic jammin to this song alll week long. Yes Amy may be a bit crazy, but her hair rocks, her song is smooth, and she sure does have style. Plus I do a really killer rendition of rehab so I like to pretend I have a beehive and rock out.

Favorite Food

Hot Chocolate

I someday dream to live a place that has more than two season (arizona= hot and not hot). I dream of fall leaves and snowy winters but here I am in AZ chugging down hot cocoa to keep warm when it's like 65 outside. Sad? yes. Delicious? oh yeahh.

Favorite Guilty Pleasure

Conan O'Brien

Oh Conan, how I love you. I really do...

especially when you do your string dance. It's like I'm hypnotized...

You're pale white skin, bean pole stature, and gorgeous red bouffant make me go wild. Forget Rob Pattinson, I much rather have you =)

what have you been diggin this week??

Sorry.. I'm not going to be any different and instead I'll just make this short.

I will be at the midnight showing of New Moon..

I was gonna do a waiting in line survival guide but in the end, the picture is enough and I think my time is better spent day dreaming of edward, running errands, and loving this movie.

I loooove to play dress up

*warning* this post contains tons of vanity filled self-portraits!
proceeded with caution

I've always been know to go through my mom's things and play dress-up.
Her shoes from the 70's, faux fur coats, and huge bobble jewelry were my favorites but nothing was ever off limits. Today was no different so when I saw these great curlers It felt like I was 5 again and decided to play dress up.

I absolutely love the way make-up was done in the 40's and 50's so bring on those ruby red lips!

One last quick hair check and my impromptu dress-up photo-shoot was on!

I finally bought a peacoat!

This one reminds me of those old detective movies =)

haha I either look like I'm from the 40's-50's or just realllly mexican...

I think I'll invent a time machine so I can dress like this everyday =)

Enough pictures of me!! Do any of you have some great time-defying pictures?

Crochet (my #1 granny hobby)

So I recently showed my bbf Rasha how to crochet (or am in the process of showing her how to crochet) and I figured I should share my #1 hobby with you blog folks.

You start with the crochet hook...then you do some of these...

and voila! after a considerable amount of crochet hook balancing and at some point throwing some yarn up there you get...

a scarf!

This is what I am currently working on (instead of reading some Shakespeare sorry Mr. Pfister) and wanted to share a couple crochet pictures to hopefully start the crochet revolution!

I'm still working on learning new things and new techniques and I;m just dying to try my hand at making one of the hats on Shana's myspace and etsy.
I am dying to make that green and black one or the green one with teeth!

Anyone who is interested in a tutorial on actually learning how to crochet (not that hard to do and tons of fun!) let me know and I'll put one together =)

Monday Mornings On MY Pineapple Express

No I don't mean that Pineapple Express

My mom came home yesterday with 4 pineapples and the request to make whatever I want to make with them. Sure okay I'll make pineapple upside down cake (gag) or pineapple flan (gag) or pineapple and sucking pig? (GAG)

I much rather make a friend =) or take em and make some vacation homes for some popular sea critters.

(no joke that is how they looked like in the episode without water)

I told myself that I have until Friday to make something with them, and I just added it to the list:

Monday Morning TO DO list:

1- finish reading Much Ado About Nothing
2- finish reading 82364946 other books littering my room by the time the 3 I ordered on Amazon come in
3- Hair cut Thursday (it was a trade for a cake)
4- NEW MOON Thursday
5- Pay Credit Card before they send those crazy looking vikings after me
6- get together a Thanksgiving menu
7- start finish scarf (purple and silver this time!)
8- craft- it's the only thing that keeps me sane (embroider? sew?)
9- christmas crafts? (haha like this will get done)
10- did I put homework up yet?
12- work, work, hw, work, sleep, hw, coffee, work

Damn this week is going to end up a little bit busier than my past weeks have been.
I'll let you know how I'm doing on Friday- maybe by then the stress will have gotten to me and the post will reallly be about some pineapple express...

How are your Monday To Do lists coming along?

Halloween Was When???

This post is about a girl who doesn't post Halloween pictures until almost two weeks after Halloween.

She kept getting asked if she had had half the bottle of vodka..

but she keeps it clean (ehh...ehh!!)
and in reality sierra mist alone gets her giddy and in that funky dance mood.

and thinking she is in a top model photo shoot

But that's okay because when this girl starts dancing to beat and singing along, she has family to join in with her (and take pictures)

Some people might call this girl grandma..

but grandma sure can get down... and with just a red cup full of diet coke.

Hope your weekend is fantastic... remember to let loose... and stay clean...

they're my friends...

"What makes life worth living... is not the things you learn up here *points to head* but the things you feel in here *points to heart*"

It was a simple line- from some movie on TV that almost made me cry the other day.
It's true you can't read about, theorize, and research love, loss, happiness, life.

You have to go out and live it.

I sew, crochet, quilt, bake, read, listen to music, watch TV, blog... all things I can do alone.
because I'm just to scared to go out and live.

We've all experienced pain from a bad breakup or from a disloyal friend. We should feel that pain learn from it and go on with life- not let it over come you.

It's true- he left- It hurt...

It hurt.

It hurts...

and I was too scared to live for fear of ever feeling like that again....

but that's not living- I wasn't living and a life is such a beautiful thing
why was I wasting mine?

I was singing these lyrics all day yesterday
"I need love
Cause only love is true
I need every wakin' hour with you
And my friends cause they're so beautiful
Yeah my friends they are so beautiful
They're my friends"

and I decided that I won't be afraid anymore to live life- If I get hurt, Hey I get hurt but I'll also get to have days like this:

Thank you Rasha for giving me such a fantastic day.
Those funny pictures, and infectious laughter did me so much good.

What is making your life worth living?

I would have been placed into Slytherin...

So I made the scarf.

But wouldn't you want to be in Gryffindor? Yes, yes I would but I don't get to choose- the sorting hat does.

So you're saying you're evil? No but don't I just look like I belong in Slytherin??? That green and silver looks loads better than the gold/maroon does one me...

and I was once cast as the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz (scheduling conflicts with another play stoped me from actually performing) so there must be something about my hair or eyes that look villainous.

and when you think about it- it's so much more fun to be the bad guy...

I won't say I would have been a death eater... but I definitely would have been in Slytherin...

Friday Favorites

So here we go again with round two of Friday Favorites

Favorite Song

I have been addicted to "Percussion Gun" by White Rabbits, for like the past week or so. The whole album is amazing but the double drums and pianos in this song just kill me in this song. Go and see them play here.

Favorite Food
So we have tons of food leftover from Halloween party so I haven't been allowed to cook. =( I always cook on Sunday so mass of leftovers, or no mass of leftovers I will be cooking this yummy white chili this Sunday (i have been craving chili for like the past three weeks...I cannot wait till SUNDAY!)

Favorite Guilty Pleasure

I am totally and completely addicted to Glee (so I have been PISSED these past two Wednesdays without Glee because of the dumb World Series- baseball fans can went their hate here) I have all the songs form the episodes downloaded (and on repeat- my harmonies fit right in!...haha not) and Wednesday nights my former drama geek and singing freak comes out (I know ALL the words to ALL the songs in: West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Wicked, Oklahoma, Chicago, Rent...)

What are your Friday Favorites??

Maybe I'll do it if I tell you about it

me and my cousin Marisa January 2009

My 20th birthday is coming up along with fall and the holiday season (yay- I'm doing my first blogger ornament exchange here) and I had a little goal in mind for this birthday but I haven't really started or really said anything about it but if I write it here maybe it'll give me some backbone to do it.

Here is the story- January 2009 I was about a size 18-maybe I even got up to 20 during the holidays (and wow goodness knows I never thought I was going to be writing those numbers up here) but from January to June I lost about 40 lbs. and made it to the purchase of a size 12 pair of jeans (my mom had to restrain me from screaming in joy in the middle of the store). Cross out the bad days I've had and I've just about stayed the same in size since then. 12 wasn't my goal though...

What I would really want to do now though is make it to a number I really never thought I would see: 8. My goal for my 20th birthday would be to be a size 8.

Now it may seem like "8? that's still pretty big" but I'm 5'9" and my weight is pretty well spread out so for me an 8 would be like Giselle. Add my height to the fact that I've always been on the heavier side and 8 seems like Mt. Everest to me, even after all the weight I've already lost. I'm used to being big- I was never short or skinny and I've never looked young- people usually guess that I'm around 24 (that's before they hear me talk about Harry Potter or Spongebob Squarepants!) and for once being a single digit would make me feel normal- like all the other girls.

I'm still getting used to how I look now (most of the time, in my eyes, I don't see that anything has changed and that I still look the same) but making to an 8 would be indescribable for me. Coming this far was something I really never thought I would be able to do- but going all way would really mean something to me.

I guess why I'm blogging about this is because I just ate half a calzone and scarfed down a doughnut from work (I know- not my wisest choices since now I feel SICK!) so I figured I need more accountability and tips and advice to make it all the way. Since I've already lost some weight I find myself out of 'the zone' and thinking that it's okay to eat chocolate, bread, and a bunch of other not-so-good foods all the time. It's not okay to eat all that junk since if I start to go back to old habits it's not only unhealthy, I could end up gaining the weight I lost (maybe some more) and yo-yo dieting is seriously not good for my heart.

So buying a size 8 pair of jeans is something I really want to do. It may not be the wisest thing to start this right before the high holy days of eat-till-your-stomach-hurts-and-you-starts-groaning feasting but to make it the big 20 (out of my teens and out double digit sizes) would be the best birthday present I could give to myself- self confidence and better health.

Do you have any goals you just might be to scared to go for?

Twilight: New Moon

I finally bought New Moon tickets for my mom, sister, and I for the midnight showing. I guess the reason I waited so long was because I was feeling the Twilight backlash like busybee was. To be quite honest though I was latecomer to the Twilight wagon because before I was a Twlight-hater..i know...i know... here's the story of it all:

So I first found out about the books when only Twilight and New Moon were out. A friend told me about them and I just couldn't accept reading yet another sappy love story that was going to screw up with my mind and, wait, this one was about a sparkly vampire?? really? yeah no thanks. SO I avoided it for about two years, refusing to read about sappy-sappy-love-sap sparkly vampires and read "better" books like hemingway and austen (I was a book snob I know) until after the first movie came out on dvd and my sister Brenda has seen it and become obsessed came over to infect my mom. They watched the movie (i took a shower because I was not about to get sucked in after all that hard work) and then they watched the movie again! (thanks mom-not) I decided to just give in and spend time with my mom and sister even if it meant I would be walking into the Twilight blackhole halfway through viewing number two...I stayed, watched, finished the movie...and then asked to borrow the books from my sister...

that was it....i was done for

I read all four books in less than a week (during finals I might add) and was done for- I had fallen in love. The way they're written is addicting and so personal it felt that I was reading a journal of my feelings of loss, love, devotion, and depression...I really was done. It was easy to love the movie for only one reason for me:

Him...I've loved him since he played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter =)

Anyways- I now have tickets for New Moon and am super excited again to go with my mom and sister. My mom , who by the way refused to go at any other time than midnight, is probably the biggest twi-hard out of all of us. Now that wouldn't be surprising from other moms but mine is straight from Mexico and read all the books in Spanish- so while she doesn't know who Oprah, or Beyonce, Britney, or who The Beatles are- she just about freaks out when she sees Taylor, or Kristen on TV. She calls Rob her "Vampiro Chulo" or hot vampire.

So thank you Stephanie, for twilight, not for just creating the most amazing story ever but for getting my mom to scream "MI VAMPIRO CHULO" at Rob- it makes my day everytime =)

oh ps- I am STILL waiting for fellow party goers to upload Halloween (hint- hint Marisa!) pictures because I am a lame-cameraless-blogger, but I did steal this one from Rasha...

Barbie, Ken, Loofah...I think we rock

I got an award!?!

Thank you Rasha soo sooo much...I guess I really can't week long hiatus now- geeze

but My lovely friend Rasha at and this is what she said sent over these two beautiful awards

and I am supposed to send em on to other bloggers but since I am still really new to this I'm going to leave the rest of this post as To Be Decided...and you will just have to wait and see who I send these things too =)

Starbucks and Corn Maze shenanigans

So the Saturday before Halloween me and my good friend Sara and Camilla went out to a corn maze to get hopelessly lost like we do every year. After about an hour or two of running around and almost dying from holes in the ground and from laughing so hard we decided to warm up at Starbucks with some YUMMY hot chocolate =)

Here is Sara and her sweet boyfriend Chad lounging in Starbucks.

Camilla, Sara, and Me.

Now me and Sara have a long standing tradition of always picking funny names for our drinks (this hasn't really been done since our junior year in high school at the Jamba Juice at Power and Ray) but Sara had the brilliance of going before me and ordering as The Hulk so I had to do something equally if not more awesome.

Now I gave the barista the choice of Voldemort and He Who Must Not Be Named and just as any Harry Potter loving muggle should choose she choose...

Umm hello? Barista working at Starbucks...you. made. my. LIFE.
I died...it was totally awesome hearing "He Who Must Not Be Named...your hot chocolate is readyyyy"

this is the point where you navigate from the page for my exceeding the preset geeky limits...

you stayed?
rad so after amazing hot chocolate we realized that my lovely friend Camilla is from El Salvador and has never tp-ed a house (*gasp* i KNOW!!!) so we quickly formulated a plan to recreate some good old fashioned high school style vandalism- and ended with a couple packages of plastic wrap and this:

we are soooo sorry if you recognize your truck...but we had to do it... for Camilla's sake =)
