Because I can

So I am continuing to procrastinate on posting pictures from my bathroom, spare bedroom, and new tattoo but instead I have found some amazing cooking blogs and recipes and been keeping up with work and school.

I move in to my parents house on Monday and surprising to say I am actually quite excited. Weird huh? Me and my mom have been so close lately and I guess I’m just happy to be there for her and a part of me is stoked I get a nice big kitchen to cook in again (I found the best recipe for meatballs and apple Danish type thing that I’m making Monday!) Me and mom had a teensy bit of a rough patch last year but since then and getting more focused on school we have really gotten to have a stronger relationship than ever. She really is my best friend and I’m quite excited for all the mom perks I get at home too. I’ll let you know when it gets not so fun anymore.

School is unbearable…ugh. Spring break totally got me out of the zone and I am just dying for summer, even though I will be going to summer school. Summer will not be as intense as school though and with it being slower at work during the summer and the fact that Cody, Brianna and Camilla (ASU friends) will all be staying in Arizona for some summer classes I expect some lazy days at the pool and a spontaneous road trip or two to break free from summer school. Yay for immense heat, summer fun, and perhaps our plans for Mexico City with the family will stick but we’ll just have to wait and see how safe it is.

So aside from being completely overwhelmed with work and school I have somehow found a list of stuff I am dying to do the first second I get the chance:

Make Zipper Flowers
finish reading...the 7 books I've started
Road trip to Sedona with Marisa??
figure out how to organize my recipes
work with Fondant!

so by the time these things get done I will have a whole new list =)

I probably will

Spring break is over and all i really want to do is go back home and sleep in until the semester is over. At least I got to paint and got everything moved that I could do over spring break. I still have lots of cleaning and moving, assignments coming, class schedules, doctor appointments, random stuff and summer school registration to think about =/ Little overwhelmed but just taking it one day at time and trying to balance all the stuff I have to do with all the stuff I want to do. Short post for today since I neglected the blog for a bit but I have photos and new ideas to share for another day =)

but while I was not doing all the work I now have piling up I found another little guilty pleasure.

Cheesecake Anyone??

SO I love, absolutely adore baking. It really is fun to be able to make brownies, and cookies, cakes, and pies and then sharing them and making friends and family really happy. My favorite things to bake have to be chocolate cake, cookies (the kind you just take the dough and smack it down on the cookie sheet), and of course cheesecakes. The first two tend to be easier to make and look good when they come out, but it takes a couple cracked, browned and over cooked cheesecakes to fully get the trick to making one look good. So after hours of finding good recipes, looking up some ‘have-to’ tips to get a perfect looking cheesecake, and testing and trying I have the flattest (no sunk in middle) even colored, yummy looking cheesecake. YAY!
Here is a close up and a picture of it just out the oven.
I will try to get a picture of it when I serve it at work tomorrow befor emy co-workers devour the entire thing. It's interesting how I can use my baked goods as bargaining tools at my work (last time cory, my co-worker, made me chilli for was sooo good) At very least I get the chance to practice on making prettier and yummier cakes without having to eat an entire cheesecake and sharing with everyone!

Reason #463817 I will NOT have babies:

Babies (when in multiples numbers) drive everyone else INSANE when YOU’RE not a good parent.

Sunday at work I had a woman come in with about 7 kids all under the age of 5 to pick up a cake. The cake she ordered was due at noon and she had showed up at 11 to pick it up. (Side note: my BIGGEST pet peeve is when costumers order a cake for a time say 1pm and then they show up at 11am and want the cake they ordered at 1. NO, I do not have your cake ready, yeah ya know the cake you wanted at 1 pm, at 11am. It is 11 now and if you needed the cake at 11 you should have said you wanted your cake at 11, NOT at 1 like YOU did say. So no, right now, at 11, I DO NOT have the your cake, the one YOU ordered to be ready at 1, ready now. Sorry…huh not.) Anyways since she was an hour early she preceded to wait with her mass of badly behaved kids while I had her cake plus about 5 other more to do within a short period of time.

Over the next 20 minutes her children were a constant reminder of how much I DO NOT want to procreate…ever. They put their dirty little hands all over the case I had just cleaned, ransacked my order book, emptied the sample cookies jar, and were SCREAMING for the cake at about 11:05 when the cake was really due at 12..

In these 20 minutes I wondered why we don’t give parenting licenses out before people are allowed to make babies, why we don’t do forced sterilization on people who REALLY shouldn’t procreate and how some people who are obviously unfit to have ONE child is then allowed to have more! This all sounds horrible I know, it sounds really bad to me but that is honestly how close I was to a breakdown from the sheer annoyance of this mass of badly behaved kids.

I really think, from the looks of this woman, that ALL of these children were unplanned. While I think a child is never anything less than a blessing, if YOU are not prepared to fully accept the responsibility of such a blessing then maybe you should keep it in your pants, or keep your legs closed, just an idea. I know some amazing women who have/want TONS of kids and I am so proud of their strength, patience, and unselfishness, but I know I would suck up the situation (which is why I will not have kids) but aside from these special ladies some of you out there really shouldn’t have kids, let alone lots of kids, and maybe now that you have the kids and can’t really do anything about it you should probably pay attention to your children’s behavior and raising them properly. I’m positive I have no right to say of any of this since I don’t have kids or want them and can in no way understand what it really means to have them but that is just about how irritated I was with this woman and her ill behaved children. ‘Keep your kids in line…and figure out how to tell time is’ all I have to say to her.
