Grand Opening!

What I've always wanted to do I've done.
I finally got my courage and strength up to work my nimble fingers and opened up

"Cat and Mouse- crochet by Mari"
I am sooo excited for this new adventure. I want to thank the best blog friends a girl could have, who a year ago told me that my stuff was good enough to sell and gave me confidence to keep crocheting and making new things.

The store has a couple designs and well loved hats but expect to see more and more pop up everyday. I just couldn't wait any longer to open up shop since I was too excited!

The lovely Miss Rasha Marie is being so kind to host a giveaway for me
So stop on over at her blog to ch-ch-check it out.

Peace on love to all on this sunny Friday =)

I hope you all like it

Where is my Mind?

I miss this.

I finally looked at my blog in over months to look something up and gasped at how much i missed this. It hurt not to write and love each and everyone one of you as I had been doing for so long and it does feel like I've been cut off from friends.

School I blame school, and work, and Modern Family and Glee, and sleep for not every having the time to even think about this and write.

I read though...boy did I read. I may have not commented since I was reading during lectures and in bed and on my phone at work but I was reading and missing you all.

Today I looked at this blog for the first time in ages and there was a message from Caitlin about how we lost touch and it was a very blatant sign for me to write again. Thank you Caitlin and I miss you (and Rasha...I live JUST DOWN THE STREET and yet here we are and I'm forgetting what you look like)

I'm almost out of the storm that is Senior year.
I have established life in Tempe
I got a job MONTHS ago at a shoe store nearby.
I have a store coming, for real this time and I'm working hard to crochet with love for you.

I missed you.
I really did.
But oh am I happy...and so much happier now to be back.

"Finally Did It!": story of a crocheted beanie...

I have been crocheting for about 2 years now but was always felt too like too much of a novice to crochet things other than scarfs...

well today I said "no more!"

I got off my butt, found a pattern, learned to read it, and went ahead and made not one but two beanies/hats Monday evening...

#1

it's pretty simple, puff ball on top...

#2

made me happy and led to an impromptu mini photo-shoot.

Short post for my mini celebration- I need to get back to work and make like 500 of these things now that I can, and perhaps figure out this whole etsy thing =)

too bad I'm gonna have to measure regular people's heads because this one's made big to fit my huge noggin...

anyone feel like being head guinea pigs?? I'll bake you cookies!!

new year new project

SO yesterday while just randomly looking across blogs I came across Secondsister Suaviloquy who had this crochet pattern on her site and a request for headbands...

her sister had worn the headband to an orphanage in Mexico and the girls there really like it but she just had the one. She is going to go back and this time hopefully go equipped with tons of headbands for everyone =) Go over to here for the pattern and details.

I might sell them as well for those non-crocheters who really like it and donate ALL the proceeds to the orphanage.

On another note it it NYE! I still don't know what I'm wearing or where I'm going- all I really know is that I'm gonna drink copious amounts of alcohol and come ready with as many jello shots I can make today. Plus it's my nephew's 12th birthday so I'm making cupcakes and hopefully catching some movie with the birthday group.

My 2009 was the most insane year ever. I hated this year but I think when I looks back it will be the one where I changed the most- and will then become good. Change , for the better, is what really marks a year for me and boy did I change this year...

and any wrong doing done to me was compensated by the most amazing blog freinds and RLF I've made these past couple months.

Stay safe out there and have an amazing time bringing in 2010!

Happy New Year's EVE!!

Crochet (my #1 granny hobby)

So I recently showed my bbf Rasha how to crochet (or am in the process of showing her how to crochet) and I figured I should share my #1 hobby with you blog folks.

You start with the crochet hook...then you do some of these...

and voila! after a considerable amount of crochet hook balancing and at some point throwing some yarn up there you get...

a scarf!

This is what I am currently working on (instead of reading some Shakespeare sorry Mr. Pfister) and wanted to share a couple crochet pictures to hopefully start the crochet revolution!

I'm still working on learning new things and new techniques and I;m just dying to try my hand at making one of the hats on Shana's myspace and etsy.
I am dying to make that green and black one or the green one with teeth!

Anyone who is interested in a tutorial on actually learning how to crochet (not that hard to do and tons of fun!) let me know and I'll put one together =)

school is getting in the way of my hobbies

I really just want to fully learn who to embroider, do appliques and start my granny quilt. I want to buy sacks upon sacks of flour and bake cookies for the entire town of Queen Creek and all ASU students and bake cakes, and bread, tarts and make chocolate truffles too. I would like to tear out all the stuff in my room, bathroom, house and sew and remake it all until the house looks like the inside of a cupcake- it's so darn cute!

but no I have to write dumb coding sheets on uncertainty reduction theory that I put off for two weeks: while I write I will be dreaming of all fun things I would much rather be doing...

like finishing the quilt that was supposed to be done for my nieces birthday last week

Or really get my hand on an embroidery pattern and get going on some crazy design
anything really.

I also want to work with some simply soft yarn in silver and forest green I bought to make a slytherin scarf to go with my HP scarf. I feel a trend coming on and most likely by the end of the year I'll probably have scarves for all the houses! I should be taking orders.
any fellow Harry Potter geeks want in on the scarf fun???

FINE- I will finish my dumb homework.... and then be in crochet/ embroidery/ quilting/ baking heaven (like all my granny hobbies?? I sure do)

so what are you doing instead of work?
