It would this date

December 3 – Moment.

Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors).(Author: Ali Edwards)

I can't remember the date now or if I actually blogged about it or no but it was an early date I had with Ross back in the spring. It was a Friday night and I had come over with some chocolate hostess cupcakes I made for him. We lightrailed over to Mill Ave and started the night at an Irish bar called Rula Bula. I had the best pint of guiness I have ever had there and dark mahoganies and rosewood countertops made it feel warm and cozy. We walked out to an outside patio that was covered with twinkle lights and we found a little table and sat by the bar and looked into the restaurant where the Irish band was playing. After we finished our pints and the corners of the picture I was seeing got a tiny bit fuzzy (like one of those lomography pictures) We walked down Mill Ave. to RA sushi and got in and was blasted with the bumping of the DJ. We sat down and I had the best dinner of my life. I felt so happy to be there with Ross and with some Saki bombers and a spicy plate of sushi the entire bar washed away. I have no idea how many people where in that bar because all I saw was Ross. My leg tingled when he put his hand on it and the sushi looked like it was glowing, heck Ross looked like he was glowing because all I could do was focus on our table and our time together. The way he was looking at me and the way I couldn't stop looking at him let me know for the first time that this was for real. THis was the night that I started to really fall in love with Ross...I felt the seed get planted and it started to grow over the next couple months. When I'm 50 I'll always be able to remember that night

Mushy Gushy

I grew up thinking love was a fallacy.
Love was something that was made up like Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, or Daylight savings time just to waste my time.
"I wasn't going to do that fake stuff called love because I was going to go to school and be smart one day" I thought

Yet here we are, me and Ross, (living together in sin and so much in love) and I was proven the fool.

The things I've learned about love
by Marisela C.

I didn't know that love meant you would take care of me. You take care of the dishes and the shampoo, and my bike.

I didn't know that love would be so funny and that we would stay up until 3 am watching cat videos and you telling me stories about when you were a kid.

I didn't know love would mean you would by me booze!
no- I didn't know love would mean you would make sure I had fun for once.

I didn't know love meant you were it it. Even when being in it means biking home in the rain at two am with a broken flip flop. I didn't know that love would mean you trying to save my flip flop and I probably shouldn't have thrown it away.

If you have been following for awhile- then you've been able to see this all happen and thank goodness for that because then I have other people to ask and make sure that this is real- that I'm not dreaming and that it's all really happened.

if not- you can see it happen from

Hey Ross- I love you.

Killed It!

Me and Ross were going to go out Saturday Night (he has been planning this secret project, but alas the stars were not aligned so we nixed the idea) but we stayed in and had an epic night in instead.

We both love Betty White (honestly who doesn't) and she seriously killed it on SNL.
We started the night with some take-out sushi
a couple of bottles of wine
watched Dr. Strangelove (that movie is hilarious! We were cracking up so hard)
and then seeing this lovely lady along with a gripload of former SNL cast members on SNL's Mother's Day show.

Sadly though I don't quite remember the whole episode. I think we may have had too much wine and we both might have had a night like this...

at least I wasn't the only one this time.

Here is to my last day of finals and getting everything finished up today! Here is also to tylenol and bottles of water and sliced bread...you guys saved my bum yesterday!
Happy Monday!

Waking Up

I hit the alarm clock when it read 6:08 Am.
I've let it go on already for an extra 38 minutes.
Ugh.

Gym clothes? check
sports bra? check
shoes, phone, ipod? check, check, check
laptop, backpack? check and check
keys? lets go

driving down the 60 in congested traffic is just enough to get me angry this morning
"no, breath, just breath"
I tell myself
''look in the rearview mirror and see the sun rise"
It's not so romantic when you're already late

Late
story of my life

Shit missed the exit
wait no- signal, move, and out
next right, left, right, right, left
park

6:52?
fuck
I'm late

Insert key, turn doorknob
say hi to cats
two stairs at a time
turn doorknob, open door

and there he is

walk over, climb in and enjoy the rest of the morning right where you should be

that is until that 10:45 class of yours just down the street

Happy Monday!
Heres to hoping you're right where you should be.
P.S. don't forget to enter into my custom chucks giveaway!

some things I've learned

Education doesn't just happen in the classroom.
Here are some things I learned this weekend.

#1
That if I get dolled up Mr. Better-Than-Prince-Charming will dress up too and take me out.

Giving a night time tour of ASU can be more fun that Disneyland and that Old Main is beautiful day of night.

The elliptical not only is good for exercise but improves your cardio so much that when you have to run for the light rail you're the first one there.

Even if it is Arizona check, double check, and triple check that the pool isn't freezing if it's 1AM. Shit it felt like jumping into ice water.

A hot shower will cure anything. Especially when there's someone else who can get your back.

Happy Monday everyone! This is post number 100 and I have made it to 53 followers so expect to hear from me everyday this week and for my first giveaway this Friday.

Actually I think that's fabric softener

I worked out yesturday at ASU's gym for about an hour and a a half (thank you TVs on all the equitment and The Colbert Report for helping work it out) and then during my 3 hour night class I started to starve. Ugh agony that is working out and then having pangs of hunger when yu live 40 minutes away from home and free food and don't want to spend moe money and stuff you shouldn't be eating anyway.

*DING* Then the lightbulb went off in my head saying "Hey that oh so sweet guy named Ross gave me a key and open invitiation to come over whenever I want...and HEY I made that pizza on Monday and there has to be at least one slice left!" So I sent him a text hoping I wasn't intruding in his night but that I was going to gnaw off my arm if I didn't get some of that pizza in me. His response? The pizza was long gone but I got an invitiation to come over anyways and we ordered in pizza. Yummm. Such a sweetheart to feed me. =)

Cut to 2 hours later us just hanging out and enjoying each other's compnay and talking about random things when I say to him

"Hey I was gonna wash your sheets when I cleaned on Monday but I didn't find any deteregent"
"I have detergent...It's that blue bottle"
"The Suavitel? You've been using that stuff from the bottle that is in Spanish?"
"Yeah I got it from the corner market down the street"
"They didn't have detergent in English? Because I am almost positive that is fabric softener"
"Really? You sure because I've been washing my clothes in that"
"Yeah...I think so let me grab it"
*running down the stairs to grab the Suavitel*
"Yeah this is totally fabric softener or Aconditionador de Telas. See look for yourself"
*Hand fabric softener over while trying to contain fits of laughter*
"This is awesome. Thank you for letting me be the one to point thing out! Can I blog about this? *snaps picture* You've been softening your laundry!"
"Think of the bacteria!"
*me histerically laughing*
"What would I do without you?"

YES! I am still too scared of wigging him out by making him pose for 20 pictures before a date or something just so I can get a good one up here of us, BUT this situation gave me a quick window to take a picture of Ross (and I really wanted a memeory of how funny its all was). Since the angle is horrendous and he is in his pj's I'm stealing one from his facebook just for the purpose of accuracy so you all can get a good idea. =)

We have a date planned for Kona this Saturday so maybe in my fancy state I can persuade him to model up for a couplde shot...maybe not still don't want to go all paparazzi on him quite yet.

Happy Birthday To You

This weekend I spent my time working and doing homework until Sunday. My sweet guy's birthday was yesterday and since my heart is happy and light and I can't find much else to write about I'll tell you how it all went down.

Ross likes cheesecake. He likes it when I make cheesecake for him and I really like making him cheesecake and making him happy. My cake decorator self asked what sort of cake he would like for his birthday and he said "Cheesecake" and me being me I made cheesecake.

I didn't make one. or two. but three birthday cheesecakes on Saturday night.

Ingredients

and a whole lot of cream cheese

Springform pans

I made a huge mess
but they came out beautiful!

Strawberry Cheesecake

Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake

Oreo Cookie Cheesecake

Red Velvet Birthday Cupcakes

White Fudge Iced Birthday Cupcakes

I went over Sunday afternoon and we spent the evening together watching 2001 A Space Odyssey (his favorite movie)

I really liked it but did not understand it at all! Anyone wanna help a girl out?? lol

Monday was Ross's actual birthday and I had school and he had work and Mondays are usually my longest days but I decided to play hooky and do something special for his day. I took a test and then my French class luckily got cancelled and I decided to not go to my evening class and instead I snuck into his apartment that is down the street from ASU's campus (and is it really sneaking in if you have a key??) and cleaned his place from top to bottom.

Thankfully his place was not as bad some guy's places I've been in and it only took a couple hours to get everything super clean. After that I made a white vegetarian pizza for when he got home (I'll post the recipe of that tomorrow for What to Eat Wednesday) and we ended up hanging out with his neighbors listening to music, sipping cold beers, and just talking on their candle-lit patio. It was such a nice night and when we came back inside he quickly updated his facebook status to this:

"I want to thank everyone for their birthday wishes and especially Marisela for making this the best birthday ever! :)"

and then I melted. We ended the night watching The Office and 30 Rock on Hulu and him playing his guitar for me. I forgot he had one, but we also looked at his myspace music page and I listened to some of the stuff he has recorded and posted on there. You should go and take a listen and see how UH-MAZING he is and then you can understand how I just turn into a puddle of gush whenever he plays for me (the last two tracks are not him singing and just friends and him goofing around..LOL)

The past two days have been so incredible and I'm soo happy that I play a part in making this a really happy birthday for Ross. He told me how he wonders how he got so lucky to get such a great girlfriend. (AHHH and I melt)

and yeah, "girlfriend" we sort of made it official ♥
But nothing changes! We're two still very happy people coming together and being awesome (lol)

"Can you die of happiness??"
I hope not.. but I hope all you lovely people have a very happy Tuesday!

I have Ricotta Cheese in my Backpack...Right NOW.

I'm sitting in class waiting for my 3 hour class from hell to begin and I being to think about the fact that I have a large tub of ricotta cheese chilling in my backpack. I have it there because I'm making these lasagna roll-ups for that special someone tonight and I had a huge break in between classes so I went to the store and got all the ingredients then. I figured that we'll be starting this evening sort of on the late side and I have to cook everything so I don't want to make the time we get together tonight any shorter by factoring in a shopping trip after class into that. It's sort of warm outside and it got really hot in my car so I figured I would save the ricotta by keeping it with me for the next 3 hours. The cookies I baked last night can stay in there along with my three pairs of shoes, blanket, four-five outfits, work clothes, make-up, pj's, toilet paper, and yarn.

Yeah I sorta live out of my car right now.

It wasn't always like this. Today instead of freaking out over making it to school on time after I woke up way late, I freaked out about not getting to blow dry my hair. Yeah I did my make-up in my car during that huge brake today and the hair makes me look homeless. Any other day I wouldn't have cared how I look. My car wouldn't be a war zone and I wouldn't be buying a second toothbrush thats purpose isn't to come home and stay with me. It's gonna stay with him...

I had to really stop myself from buying this one. I really wanted to match my new Hello Kitty debit card. Damn that B of A and their enticing ways.

Is this normal? Have you felt like this before? planing, re-planning and re-arranging and strategizing for time? I live about 40 min from ASU (Tempe), about 1.5 hours from ASU (West), 20 mins from Work Store 1, 25 mins from Work Store 2, and 50 mins from Work Store 3 adn so I an micromanaging my time to get the most time I can...for him.

please tell me you have done this before. I'm not the only one. I think we are just both smitten. Completely smitten. I may live out of car, not sleep regular hours, and see more of the freeway than my own room but I'm deliriously happy.

Taken about 15 mins ago in class.

ps. I am soo done if he ever sees this blog. Die of embarrassment?? Oh yeah, you betcha.

pps. Maybe I won't of embarrassment after all after all the stupid, spazy stuff I have done in front of him already. That requires a full post on it's own.

Tu, Solo Tu

The best word I could use to describe my saturday afternoon picnic is vibrant.

I wrote it on my twitter one day of just how vibrant works.

"hmm...that sounded good 'life is vibrant when I'm with him' I'll have to remember that and tell him in the future if it lasts"

The sun shone like I've never seen it shine before. Food has never tasted that good. The wind felt like it was hugging me and playing with my hair. The birds were singing. My nose was loving the smell of the water. The flowers. of him.

part of me wants to build up my wall higher and stronger so I feel safe and know I won't get hurt..

another part of me sees how incredible this all is and wants to let go and let loose and let the way he makes me feel overcome me, overpower me, and wash me in waves of happiness.

at this point... how simply perfect this weekend was is telling me it will be worth it if I get my heart broken in the end...

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
is to love and be loved in return"
right?

here is to taking chances...

but let me let you in on reality. This is my life right?? so that means it's not sunshine and cupcakes, Disney movies all the time k?? I have to be my stupid, clumsy, mess-it-up self! Saturday afternoon was a dream but my idiot self yet again thought I was Russian and I may have reenacted this photo...

in his bathroom...
yeah I die thinking about the embarrassment

but he rubbed my back, brought me water and aspirin and played his guitar for me after too...
so if that doesn't yell keeper I don't know what does...

Thank you for the great suggestions for my picnic...it really was perfect but I'm thinking now that I could have gone in pjs and with pop tarts and it still would have been vibrant.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and here is to one week before spring break!

the best date so far

All these crazy mixed up emotions have been great for my blog! I can't help but come here and write just about anything right now. I feel so expressive and open, even if some of the best post are unpublished and labeled "private", I feel so thankful that I have such amazing blog-friends who have helped in providing me this space!

It's love month and I feel like I should come clean about some of the amazing moments I've been having lately. Bananas is right about vague posts and frankly I don't like 'em either! That's why we blog! We do it share all the juicy details- right? What is going on right now is a little too fresh and green for me to be writing about it just yet on the internet- I'm trying real hard not to mess things up because I'm my world, I inevitably goof up and ruin things. I'm just gonna stay really happy and mum about the past couple weeks but I did want to write about the best date I've ever had. Try and give a little of all the mushy gusuy I've been feeling to you folks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It all starts here, at Egdefest of 07, a music festival they had about 5 minutes from our place in QC with acts like Flyleaf, The Bravery, Jimmy Eat World, Social Distortion, and Tiger Army. I went with my mole eyes girls, Sara and Sarskie and had a fantastic time just lounging around in the great weather and enjoying stellar music.

edgefest 07

We were all really excited to Jimmy Eat World and they came on just as the sun was setting and we shimmed our way up front- as far as we could. The shimmying up front was probably not the best idea because here I was momma hen, trying to protect my short friends from the mosh pit next door and from us being separated when a rouge crowd surfer suddenly comes crashing into Sara! I'm scared that she's hurt or bleeding and in talking to her, asking her if she's is alright I get a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see this really handsome tall guy with dark brown hair, green/brown eyes, a Led Zeppelin t-shirt and a friendly smile. Wow. He asks me if my friend is alright, and I of course being astounded by how cute he is gurgle out something incoherent and grin like a fool before turning back to my friends and melting into a giant puddle. After melting, recovering with some small "battle wounds" from the crowd surfer, and some more dancing and jumping around my friend Sarskie points out that "there's this dude staring at you" and I turn around to see smile guy looking directly at me and I grin again like an idiot and re-melt. We did this turn back melt thing about 5 or 6 more times during the concert until Jimmy Eat World finished their amazing set and we hi-tailed it out of mosh pit zone before people started pushing each other again for a better spot for the next band. We're waiting right outside of the circle for some other friends when I see smile guy following me out and I brake apart from my group to talk to him. "Now or never, right?? Got to be brave" I tell myself.

Jimmy Eat World at Edgefest 07

"Hi, I'm Ross"

"Hey, I'm Marisela, nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too"

(God only knows what the heck we talked about for the next minute or too, I was trying to pat down my hair, not smell like stanky mosh pit people, and trying oh so hard to be super cool at the same time)

"Here let me give you my number"

"ok" (phone out-grabbing number)

"It was nice meeting you Marisela"

"You too Ross"

and then we walked back to our friends and I super melted one last time.

I didn't text him that night, I practically stuck my phone in the freezer to try and be coy and wait awhile. I lasted until the next evening, Sunday night where I texted him that "Hello" message and our phones just about blew up over the next couple days...

Cut to about four weeks later and about three dates in. It's a Thursday evening and I was living off campus with a family friend whose neighborhood had this huge man made lake in it and we are set to have a moonlit picnic right by it.

He shows up and just about every time I see him my heart feels like it's going to pop out my chest and I'm thanking God I chose not to eat anything because it would surly be coming up right now from how nervous he makes me feel.

We toasted some sourdough bread with a balsamic vinaigrette thing and pack up a picnic basket (that I had scrambled to get earlier that day) with some wine, cheese, the bread and a blanket that matched the picnic basket (that I made earlier that day too) I was so nervous and definitely feeling the butterfly with ever glance we sent each other's way.

We walk together, basket and acoustic guitar in tow, around the lake until we come to a spot where the moon is reflected and looks oh so big in the water and lay everything out. We drink some wine, eat cheese and have some great conversation. After a bit I request some music and he pulls out his guitar and just starts playing and OMG am I in love with how good he is. By far the best guitar playing I've ever heard and after I ask him what he is playing I get a "oh I'm just sort of making it up" response and die a little more at how amazing he is.

Then it hits me. Here we are sitting on nice warm blanket, under the moonlight by this beautiful lake, sipping wine and I'm getting serenaded by the most incredible guitar playing I've ever heard. "How lucky am I to be living in a movie" I think to myself because it was all just so perfect that It could only be a dream.

The rest of the night was equally special and I'd like to save it for me to keep but I'll just say we talked a whole lot more, kissed like crazy and got caught in the sprinklers just like in the movies.

However cute that night was we didn't last. We went on a couple more dates and made it official too soon. We ended up wanting different things; me, this being my first real time dating wanted a relationship and commitment; him, just getting out of a serious relationship wasn't looking for something so concrete so fast. I took it a little bad when things ended because he had been pretty much been everything I was looking for in guy. He's really tall, smart, well read, funny, into great music, sweet, romantic, and original, so I kept my crush on him for a while and we ended up staying friends and keeping in touch over myspace and facebook and the occasional text messages so things turned out pretty well.

About 2 and half years later and still nothing has come close to being as sweet or memorable a night as that Thursday night moonlit picnic...

Well that was until this past Valentine's day, or how I like to call it "The Best February 12th Ever", since I wasn't quite expecting to do anything for Valentine's day.

And here's the funny part the sweet guy who took the time to plan out such a great night as February 12th for me? Yeah his name is Ross.

I guess it pays off when you part relationships amicably and stay in touch. =)
